International Maritime Law Conferense
The conference is part of the annual Singapore Maritime Week, an important meeting place for the maritime industry. The theme for the conference this year is the consequences of the financial crisis in the fall of 2008, and the long-term effects.
The conference takes place Wednesday and Thursday of this week, and Nygård will speak on Thursday under the title: “Assessing risks in a falling shipping marked”.
In the speech he will focus on the connection between declining market values on ships and insurance values, and the consequences of the fact that many shipowners find themselves in a situation where the insurance value is higher than the market value.
“This is the second time you have been asked to speak at this conference, what does this mean to you?”
“Of course it’s nice to be asked again to speak in such an international setting. It is a good opportunity to represent Norwegian Hull Club, and the Norwegian/Scandinavian insurance product. The Norwegian maritime insurance industry stands strong internationally, also in the Far East” says Per-Åge Nygård.
“The theme in focus is really all about proper risk management” he adds.
