Vanessa Papas (far left), Sofiana Fyriou, Nicola Buckley, all representing Lomar Shipping (London):
"I find the scenario good and the way it takes us through the process step by step. The interactive approach gives us a sense of what can happen. I hold the book knowledge, but the practical approach makes this a test of what our job will entail," says Nicola.
"I agree, the audience takes part and we are presented the case from different perspectives. The practical approach is a good way of presenting a complicated field," says Sofiana.
"I am new in the shipping business so for me it is a good way to learn the basics. It gives me a good guide through the process of the scenario. I will take home the experience and try to use it in my job,"says Vanessa.
Magnar Gjerde, Farstad Shipping (Ålesund):
"I think this is my 13th year joining the workshop. Even for someone like with long experience in the business, there is always something new to learn - you never stop learning! It is also interesting to see what Norwegian Hull Club can do for me as a Corporate Insurance Manager and how to react in certain situations."
Margrete Marshall, Marine Manager at Carisbrooke Shipping (Isle of Wight):
"This is my first NHC Workshop and I am happy with how NHC has presented the underwriting/claims process. The first part was a bit noisy with many people talking at the same time including video. But the case studies were good even though I have experience within the field and been in an emergency response team. As for my two colleagues, the workshop is a great way to get to know Norwegian conditions."
Helge Byhre Sirevaag, Remora ASA (Stavanger):
"The workshop has been a great way to refresh my memory since I have been away from the shipping business for 18 years. I found the case good in the way it visualizes the problem of discussion. Last night's weather on the other hand, wasn't that great!"
