Ole Wikborg IUMI's 24th President

In its concluding afternoon session Wednesday September 15th of its annual conference, the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) elected Mr. Ole Wikborg, Director of Norwegian Hull Club, as its 24th President.

IUMI has members from 55 national marine insurance organizations worldwide. Every year in September, delegates from the membership organizations meet to discuss subjects related to the marine insurance and transport industries. This year's conference, which took place in Zürich, Switzerland draw the participation of 500 delegates, 100 industry professionals and 160 spouses. A broad agenda was adapted, spanning from the annual update of insurance records for the hull, cargo and offshore lines of business, legal and loss mitigation issues to presentations pertaining to safety and environmental concerns. Between conferences, IUMI plays an active role in promoting marine insurance interests at various other organizations and official bodies, most notably the International Maritime Organization - IMO, and work with other industry interests to protect lives, health, environment and property.

Ole Wikborg, who succeeded Mrs. Deirdre Littlefield of New York based C. V. Starr, is the second Norwegian to hold the IUMI President post in the organization's 134 years history. Mr. Wikborg is an executive at Norwegian Hull Club responsible for the managing of Norwegian Hull Club's Oslo office and is also the current chairman of the Nordic Association of Marine Insurers (Cefor).
