Our Christmas Gift

Norwegian Hull Club has made it a tradition to donate money to The Church City Mission every year before Christmas instead of sending out Christmas cards and gifts to our clients and business associates ...

The Church City Mission conducts its work in many of the largest cities in Norway. They meet those who live in loneliness and poverty and lack a sense of belonging. Through good deeds, the City Mission wishes to contribute towards making people feel wanted and respected.

This year we have earmarked our donation for two different projects; "Møtestedet"(Meeting point), which is the name of a Bergen city centre café operated by the Church City Mission. The café is open every day, and provides for drug & alcohol addicts, homeless people and others in need of food and care. "Møtestedet" offers a free meal, drink or a chat with caring personnel. The café has two employees and 20-25 voluntary workers, most of whom are female senior citizens. They have managed to create a safe, warm and welcoming atmosphere, something the guests really appreciate. In Oslo the money is donated to the traditional Christmas concert arranged by the Mission, this year held in "Vår Frue" Church 17th December.

Our appeal to all of you, is to let Christmas be the time of year when those of us who have been fortunate enough to be spared for such challenges in our lives, take a break in our busy schedules and take the time to care also for those less fortunate. We would like to thank you all for the good contact and communication we have had throughout 2011 and wish you a peaceful, Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!
