The number of delegates increased from last year as close to 60 energy brokers attended, which once again demonstrates the seminar's position as a valuable meeting place in the important London market.

Increased business through London brokers

The seminar started with John Wiik and Hans Christian Seim providing a summary of NHC`s past year and future plans on continuing cooperation with the London market. John was pleased to advise that NHC had a historically good year in 2010, partly due to the absence of large claims, but also as a result of underwriting discipline and product diversification. To illustrate the increased presence of the London market in our portfolio, Hans Christian ran through the premium figures for the last few years, showing the business volume steadily growing.

Introduction to BW Offshore

Following the introduction our guest speaker of the year made his entrance to the stage, Mr. Jon Myran, Executive Vice President of Operations at BW Offshore. BW Offshore is a world leading FPSO contractor and a market leader within advanced offshore loading and production systems to the oil and gas industry. Jon held a presentation of the changes and the major steps the company has taken over the last years, which proved to be of great interest for the audience. He was confident that the way the company would reach the top, was to continue investing and be there for the long run.

Introduction to NHC`s Client Services

The finale of the seminar was left to Geir Skoglund, who very enthusiastically and with great interest from the audience, presented NHC Client Services as an additional element in fostering relations with the clients and their broker. He guided the audience through a scenario where a vessel and its crew were in danger. The question was "what can we as brokers and the claims team do to help the client in a critical situation"? Geir presented the Client Service's target list on how to respond in such a situation, and also the different training programs which have been developed by the team. He strongly underlined the importance of such knowledge as a step to increasing relations with clients. The audience was impressed by both the program, and not least Geir`s lecture style.

Lunch time

With formal presentations complete, it was time for lunch. With a room full of competing brokers, one could imagine that the atmosphere would be tense. However, this was not the case. Engaging conversations were held, irrespective of company name, and the atmosphere was good - once again proving that networking and sharing experiences is an important part of the seminar.

Looking forward to seeing you next year!
